The children who are participating in the intangible cultural heritage-themed summer camp as the “little journalists of Suzhou Daily” learned to make Suzhou-style bonsai during the event held at the Real Estate Supermarket of SIP on July 20.

In the event, Mao Fengwei, an inheritor of traditional Suzhou-style bonsai making techniques, gave the “little journalists” a specific introduction to the characteristics of Suzhou-style bonsai and the process of making it.

Following Mao’s demonstration, the kids carefully trimmed the miniature trees, gently wrapped them with aluminum wire to shape them into graceful forms, and then planted them in pots and covered the soil with moss as decorations.
